Kulen Mountain is a cultural and historical resort that marked the origin of the Khmer empire in the 9th century when King Jayavarman II announced independence from Java and declared himself as the ‘Chakravartin,’ meaning the Universal King. Visit the 1000 Linga and Yoni on the riverbed and then walk to visit the reclining Buddha. Dinner will be cooked on the camp fire. After dinner we will experience a night walk in the hope to see some night creatures. Day 1: Holy Kulen Mountain - Beng Mealea Temple
Morning: After breakfast at the hotel meet our tour guide and driver at the lobby and start a long drive (70km) to Kule
Waterfall mountain. Kulen Mountain was the birth place of Angkor. The mountain is revered by Khmers and regarded as a sacred place. It is here that King Jayavarman II in 9th century proclaimed himself as a divine universal ruler and chose Kulen Mountain as his administration center to rule the Kingdom of Khmer Empire. You will have opportunity to pray to the huge reclining Buddha satue which as built on the top of a natural huge rock. Walking around to see the One Thousand of God Siva's Linga and pedestal of Goddess Uma (Linga, literally means: Symbol of man, Pedestal means: Symbol of woman). Then you may enjoy your swimming in the water fall.
Noon: Take a break for lunch in the local restaurant on the top of the mountain.
Afternoon: After lunch and rest we drive down to the ground and head to Beng Mealea temple ( a pond of lotus flower).
Beng Mealea is a remote overgrown temple with a floor plan similar to Angkor Wat, but in a lush jungle setting. Exploring the temple involves climbing the collapse passage through vine-covered doorway and around massive trees growing inside the temple.
Then we continue the sighseeing tour to visit the Floating Village of Kampong Phluk in Tonle Sap great lake of Cambodia. Tonle Sap is the largest and rest water lake in South-east Asia. The area of the lake changes six time a year because of the monsoon season. Take a boat ride to a fishing village to observe the local lifestyles. Kampong Phluk is a cluster of three villages of stilted houses built withing the floodplain of the lake. The villagers are primarily Khmer and have a bout 3,000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques.
Evening: We drive back to the town and transfer you back to the Siem Reap International Airport for next destination.
