DAY 1

Welcome to Cambodia! Your romantic holiday in this beautiful country is about to begin. We will pick you up from the airport and take you to the Sojourn hotel, nestled among rice paddies and palm trees. You will receive a welcome guide and a gift. We will give you some time to relax and recover from the flight. You can take a nap, relax by the pool with a cocktail, or enjoy the beautiful surroundings. In the evening you will enjoy a private dinner at the pond, with a delicious chocolate cake as desert.

DAY 2

On this first full day in Cambodia, you will make a tour to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat by jeep. An English speaking guide will take you through the enormous park along the majestic structures and stop at several of them for a visit. The world heritage temple originates from the 12th century and is an experience of mystique and beautiful sculptures. First, we will visit Angkor Wat itself and we will walk between the remains of one of the most important of the no less than 110 temples. Before we continue we will quench our thirst with a soda or how about a fresh coconut? A short drive takes us to Angkor Thom, which consists of, among others, the 12th century Bayon temple. The 54 four-headed Buddha statues are one of the most impressive sights of the temple complex. Later today, we will visit the Ta Phrom temple. This is one of the few temples that has been kept in its original state. This temple is famous because part of the movie Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie was shot here. The temple is partly overgrown with trees with gigantic roots, that have ‘nestled’ themselves on and in the stone blocks. At midday, your guide will prepare a pick nick lunch to help you charge the batteries. When you return to the hotel, in the evening, a wonderful relaxing 120 minutes massage awaits you! You will sleep like a baby.

DAY 3

In the morning we will visit the mysterious 12th century temple in the middle of the jungle in Beng Melea. This temple is heavily overrun by vegetation, like tress, vines and moss. After this we continue to the largest floating village of Kampong Kleang. During the dry season you can walk between the stilts on which the houses are built, rising up to 10 meters in the air. In the wet season the lake reaches peak level and water rises till one or two meters of the building floors. You will enjoy a boat tour through the village and have the chance to meet the locals. On the way, you will get water and fruit and a pick nick lunch. Later, we will have jeep ride back to your hotel. After you freshen up a bit at the hotel, we will take you to “Smile of Angkor”, the first grand epic show that revives the Angkor dynasty in all aspects. From foundation to prosperity, tale to folk customs, past to present, Smile of Angkor expresses the original culture with the highest technology. Buffet dinner is included.

DAY 4

Our half-day bicycle tour in Siem Reap will give you an authentic view of countryside life in Cambodia. The first few kilometers will be on a paved road where we will stop at a miniature model version of Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. From there, we will visit a cemetery and a school before heading off the main road onto dirt tracks. As we move on, you will see people working in the rice fields. Next, you will arrive at a unique house where some special pets are kept… About 25 crocodiles! You might even get the chance to feed them (from a safe distance, of course). After this, we will pass the ancient Athvea temple from the Angkor period, which is the last stop on this tour. The afternoon is free time.

DAY 5

Today is a rather long travel day. Early in the morning our tour leader will pick you up from the hotel by car, and provide you with water and fruit for the day. We will drive through the beautiful Cambodian countryside and when we arrive at the mighty Mekong River, a ferryboat will take us across. Then, we will drive north, passing through many small Muslim villages and the old French-colonial village of Chlong. The drive alongside the Mekong River will take us to Kratie. Your hotel is situated along the boulevard. A popular end-of-the-day activity in Kratie is to relax by the riverfront and watch the sunset.

DAY 6

According to our guests, one of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the Irrawaddy dolphins. Less than 100 are still living in the Mekong River, whilst the worldwide population stands at over 7.000. We will take a boat cruise on the river. After seeing the dolphins we will continue our way through the hillsides, by car, and take you to the Terres Rouges Hotel in Ratanakiri, where you will stay for four nights. In the afternoon you can relax by the pool with a book or a cocktail and enjoy free time.

DAY 7

Today our tour leader and a local guide will take you to Yaklom Lake. A refreshing swim and a shower can be taken here in a unique fairy-tale like environment. You will also visit a few beautiful waterfalls. Next, it´s time for some exciting elephant trekking in the jungle. A unique experience you will never forget!

DAY 8

After an early breakfast we head north of Banlung to Voen Sai district. Once we get to Voen Sai we get on a local boat and make a short trip upstream to see the tribal cemeteries of Tumpoun north of the river. These traditional tribal cemeteries are one of a kind in Cambodia and can only be found in Ratanakiri province.

After an intriguing visit we get back in the boat and follow the river downstream towards an ethnic Chinese village and ethnic Lao village. We stroll through the villages and learn more about the ethnicity of these two minority groups in Ratanakiri. Ratanakiri is home to primarily minority groups and still has many hill tribe communities following traditional lifestyles.

DAY 9

This day is free for leisure.

DAY 10

Today we will visit Koh Pen Island. During the trip, that will take about 5 hours, we will stop at a local market in Kampong Cham before crossing onto Koh Pen Island, an enchanting place where time has stood still for ages. Depending on the water height, which varies from season to season, we will either take the ferry or use the bamboo bridge. On this island we will sleep in bamboo huts in hammocks. A true experience, which requires an adventurous spirit! The overnight stay is quite basic, under a reed roof, on the banks of the mighty Mekong River. In the evening you will enjoy a delicious barbeque under the stars. If you prefer to sleep in a hotel, this is also possible.

DAY 11

After the once in a lifetime experience of sleeping in a hut, right next to the Mekong river, and a tasty breakfast, we will explore Koh Pen island by bike. After this, we will leave the island and head towards Wat Nokor, an ancient Ankor temple. On the way, we will stop in Skuon, where you can try the famous spider delicacy. In the afternoon we will go to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. In the evening, our guide will bring you to the romantic Malis restaurant for dinner. This is one of the best restaurants of Phnom Penh where you can taste an authentic Khmer dinner.

DAY 12

Today you will have free time in Phnom Penh. At some point during the day you can enjoy a relaxing complementary massage at Bodia Spa, one of the leading spa´s in the city.

DAY 13

Time to discover the secrets and the history of Phnom Penh today. A guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you around town, first by cyclo, and later by tuktuk. Sit back and enjoy the romantic ride through this vibrant and charming city. Lunch will be at the Hagar restaurant, which is run by an NGO that helps disadvantaged women and children in Cambodia. You will visit the genocide museum S21 Tuol Sleng. This place used to be a high school and was used as the most notorious prison S21 of the Red Khmer-regime that lasted from 1975 until 1979. After this, it is a short drive to the Royal Palace, a complex of buildings, that functions as the Royal Residence of the king of Cambodia. Here, we can enjoy pure Khmer architecture. We continue our day tour by leaving the city for a less romantic, but necessary visit to the horrible place called Choeung Ek, better known as the Killing Fields, where thousands of people were tortured and buried in mass graves. On the way back to the hotel we will stop at the projects of Kimlay. He is a project coordinator who has started several schools for underprivileged children and helps families to build a better life. This will show you a different side of Cambodia.

DAY 14

For the last part of the trip, we will bring you from Phnom Penh to beach city Sihanoukville. You will be taken to the beautiful Sokha beach Resort, set amidst a beautifully landscaped beachfront and garden with its own 1.5 kilometer pristine white sandy beach. Whilst Sihanoukville is first and foremost a great place to lie on the beach, there are all sorts of activities to be done too.

DAY 15

Today is free for you to enjoy the hotel and its surroundings or Sihanoukville. You will get a complementary massage package to make everything perfect.

DAY 16
