What to expect

Cambodia's jungle holds a wealth of stunning natural scenery and fascinating ancient history. Led by a private guide, this day-long tour shows you Kbal Spean (“River of a Thousand Lingas), the beautifully carved temple of Banteay Srei, and the grand temple of Banteay Samre.

Your first stop of the day is Kbal Spean, a riverbed known for the many rock reliefs carved into its sandstone banks. Embark on a short trek, ascending a series of wooden staircases, to reach the site. Your guide points out the wealth of lingams, symbols of the Hindu god Shiva that inspire the name “River of a Thousand Lingas”. As you scope out the carvings, the river's waterfalls create a serene backdrop.

Break for lunch, and then pay a visit to the temple of Banteay Srei. Dating back to the late 10th century, this small but beautiful structure is distinct for its carvings in warm pink sandstone. Get up close to view their delicate details, and then continue on to Banteay Samre. Larger, lesser-known, and breathtaking in the late afternoon light, this temple offers a beautiful final stop for your tour. • Infant 3 years old and younger are complimentary when accompanied by a paying adult.
• You must have a reasonable level of fitness and be able to walk at a leisurely pace for approximately 1 mile (3 km).
• At least 2 people are required for this activity to take place.
